Stories about those in the know

Roger Badham: Australia's Roger Badham has been married to the dual specialties of sailing and forecasting since an executive at a Sydney television station introduced him to 18 foot skiff legend Iain Murray, back in 1977.

Today his main task is routing maxi catamaran Club Med around the world in The Race, beginning New Year's Eve 2000.

Jean-Yves Bernot: When you plan for an ocean crossing you think not so much about what kind of weather to expect, but which route to take," says this French ocean router.

We speak to this highly qualified ocean forecaster prior to the solo trans-Atlantic race in May, 2000.
