Antipodes anticipation Influenced by the wet and windy Southern Ocean as well as the boiler box of the earth - south east Asia - climate in the Antipodes provides the forecaster with plenty of challenging moments. Infra red satellite images Australia and New Zealand in infra Red, updated every six hours, thanks to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. The best thing about this link, is that the bureau keeps all images for seven days, allowing you to download, and animate individual images to get an idea of trends. Australasia in infra-red: This image shows Australia and New Zealand north to Thailand. The infrared pictures measure the temperature of the cloud tops, which can be used to determine their height. The whiter clouds are colder than the grayer clouds in this image.
