Snow falls on Australia
for the first time in 2000
Pictured above is an animated loop
of satellite maps from May 25-28 showing a low pressure cell as it circles towards Tasmania.
If you wait
long enough for this 750kb file to load, you will see the storm circling
clockwise, dragging cold air from south west to north-east. The little puffy clouds sailing
onto the South Australian coastline from the Australian Bight are squalls and as
they reach higher ground in Victoria and southern NSW,
the rain within them
falls as snow.
